Parfait is another French word that’s been widely adopted in the West. These days, at least in Australia, a parfait is simply any layered dessert in a taller glass.
It’s also a great way to get you a serious part of your daily protein requirements. Chia seeds contain from 15-19% protein, plus a wide mix of other great nutrients.
That’s why chia seeds deliver all the many benefits you see in the diagram further down this page.
The word “chia” actually means strength in the ancient Mayan language.

Ingredients: breakfast chia parfait
Here are the main ingredients of the sorts of chia parfaits we’ve been enjoying.
Obviously, the exact mix depends on whether you prefer a blueberry chia parfait, or mango chia parfait, or whatever.
- chia seeds…4 dessert spoons
- half cup blueberries
- a tsp. of vanilla extract or one vanilla pod
- a quarter tsp. cinnamon
- a squeeze of lemon juice
- 3 quarters of cup of a 50:50 mix of plant based milk (like Soy or Oat milk), and coconut milk
- fresh fruits as desired like mango, strawberries, banana, kiwi fruit.
If you want, use any other fruit of your choice to eat with it, plus coconut yogurt.
Enjoy a chia breakfast parfait, loaded with protein.
