What to look for in the best online yoga in Australia
If you are comparing online yoga in Australia, look for live classes with a qualified teacher who can see you, times that suit your time zone, and a way to try before you pay. In a live class, the teacher watches you and adjusts your pose, the way she would in the studio. That matters most for beginners, and for anyone with a stiff back, sore knees or an old injury. Flametree also has recorded videos for days you cannot make a class.
Classes are adapted to your level. This short video shows handstand being taught at Flametree’s Woolner studio; beginners start with much simpler poses.

The benefits of yoga
Many students find regular classes help them feel stronger, more flexible and calmer. Dr Timothy McCall’s June 2019 list names 117 conditions where published studies suggest yoga may help; the evidence varies, and yoga supports, but does not replace, care from your doctor. Easy set-up for live online yoga
The set-up only needs to be done once, and takes a couple of minutes.
- Download the Zoom app on your phone, tablet or computer.
- Click the class time you want in Flametree’s class app, open a free account, and choose the online version of the class.
- We email you the link to join. About 10 minutes before the class, follow the link.
- Point your camera so the teacher can see you. You can turn your camera off, but the teacher can help you more, and more safely, if she can see what you are doing. Nobody else in the studio can see you clearly.
A bigger screen helps
If you are on a 4G connection, you can turn off your video to save data; the sound will still work.
Ideally, use a laptop, or connect your phone or computer to your TV, so you can see the teacher clearly.
Online yoga also works best with a few props: a mat, a belt, a chair and a folded blanket are enough to start.
