Best vegan quinoa dessert recipes that are good for you!
Healthy, low sugar, dessert quinoa delights.
Quinoa coconut milk dessert gives you among the best quinoa dessert recipes options; and they’re healthy. It’s one of the top vegan quinoa dessert recipes for my favourite dessert quinoa combinations.
It also means that this relatively high protein grain can be used for either main course, or dessert, or both.
Plus, quinoa flakes, or this recipe, can be used as a breakfast. For instance, see my earlier recipe with quinoa flakes.
In other words, quinoa is hugely flexible. No wonder it powered so many South American civilizations.
By the way, a cup of quinoa contains a lot more protein, and much more fiber, than white rice. (Quinoa is 8.1g for every 100 grams, versus 2.7 for white rice).
Plus, it also has fewer calories and carbohydrates than white rice.
So, for your next delish dessert, follow the steps immediately below.
Ingredients for quinoa coconut milk dessert
Here are the ingredients you need.
- One cup of dry quinoa
- A stick of cinnamon, or half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 3 tins of coconut milk, ideally organic too
- A dessert spoon of sugar
- Half a vanilla pod, with the inside scraped out to use
- Salt to taste (removes any bitterness of quinoa)

How to make dessert quinoa
To make dessert quinoa, just follow these very easy steps.
- Add quinoa to a medium size saucepan.
- Add water to saucepan, let sit 5 minutes, then swirl around with quinoa, and then slowly pour of the water, so as to “wash” the quinoa. Do it several times until the water is clear.
- Next, add 3 tins of coconut milk.
- Add cinnamon.
- Mix it together.
- Bring to the boil. Lower the heat cook until the quinoa is soft.
- Stir regularly until it thickens.
- For a low sugar version, stir in about a dessert spoon of coconut sugar. With the fruit, it will be sufficiently sweet. But add more coconut sugar if you prefer.
- Add a good pinch of salt and stir in.
- Serve with fruit of your choice such as berries, kiwi fruit, sliced banana, or passionfruit.

Low sugar dessert
- Cooked protein gives you 8.1 grams of protein per 100 grams.
- Just to encourage you to follow the low sugar road, remember that a medical doctor, researched and published 146 reasons to avoid sugar.
- This sugar impact research included 14 ways that sugar can either cause cancer, or is a risk factor for cancer. Soon, see the Flametree blog for more information.
- In this regard, take care with the amount of fruit you add, because it obviously also contains sugar. However, some fruits are at the lower sugar end of the spectrum.
