Here are the ingredients, with a quantity for 2 people.
Pumpkin, raw… one good handful, sliced 2 cms x 2cms x 0.5 cms (or 10 cm x 5 cm x .25 cms)
1 shallot, sliced & finely chopped
1 knob ginger, sliced & finely chopped – about size of finger nail
1 knob of turmeric, sliced and finely chopped – about size of finger nail
8 curry leaves
1 cup of chick peas – already cooked. Can be raw, presoaked, and then cooked, or canned.
1/2 cup of coconut milk
1 teaspoon of garam masala
1 teaspoon of Indian curry powder
pinch of salt & pepper
 oil for frying- can be coconut or olive oil.
add chilli if you like spicy food
It is best to use raw chick peas, soak overnight , then cook for 2 hours. Far tastier than tinned chick peas. Organic chickpeas are even more delicious.

Use these steps, to make this tasty pumpkin chickpea dahl.
Steam pumpkin, and drain
Blend pumpkin with one teaspoon of water to make 1/2 cup of puree.
In a frying pan or wok, fry oil, shallots, ginger, turmeric, and curry leaves until fragrant.
Pumpkin Chickpea Dahl, cook for 10-15 mins until creamy.
