Films and books about yoga: the short version
Looking for something good to watch or read about yoga, breathwork or meditation, and want to know if it is worth your evening? We watch the films and read the books, take notes, and write up what each one is really about: the stories, the science it draws on, and where it fits with the Iyengar yoga we teach in Darwin. Iyengar yoga is the style developed by Mr BKS Iyengar. In the 20th century he did more than anyone to set down traditional Indian yoga, through his books and his teaching, and he pioneered the use of props. It is sometimes called modern classical yoga, and it’s the style we teach at Flametree.

Why a yoga studio reviews films and books
Students often ask us what to watch or read. Some films are a lovely way in. Others promise more than they deliver, or make claims a study would not back.
So we write down what we found. We sell yoga classes, and we would rather say so. But a good film or book is worth knowing about wherever it leads you.
