Much mindful eating training has its major focus just on eating practices. It’s no use to you if you can’t get mindful in the first place!
Mindful eating practices, without mindfulness, is like a sailing boat without a sail. You can’t get where you want to to!

Mindful eating training works
According to research studies, mindful eating, including mindful eating classes, are good for your mind, and your body. Here are 3 examples.
- For instance, researchers have found a positive relationship between mindful eating and healthy eating. Mindfulness is associated with less impulsive eating, reduced calorie consumption, and healthier snack choices. (Jordan, Wang, & Donatoni, 2014).
- Another study found that a mindfulness-based waist reduction program led to greater mindfulness, cognitive restraint around eating, and significant decreases in the waist line, binge eating, depression, and stress (Dalen, Smith, Shelley, Sloan, Leahigh, & Begay, 2010).
- An intervention focused on mindful eating at restaurants also proved to be effective in helping people manage their waist. Those who participated in the intervention also lowered their average daily caloric intake, and fat intake, and enjoyed increased self-efficacy. That it, they felt more confident about their ability to do all these things. (Timmerman & Brown, 2012).
